Amazing how fast you can finish a book

Yes! Another entry on books! I just read a lot lately. =)

It took me 6 weeks to finish Shogun, an English book of 1250 pages. Now I finished Michael Crichton's Prey within 2 days. 350 pages.

I wonder how that's possible. First of all, the book is in Dutch. I like to think that I read English as easily as Dutch, but I guess Dutch still goes a bit faster. Secondly, the book is a lot easier, there aren't that many things going on at once and details aren't very complicated. Thirdly... It was very captivating (thanks Mark), written in a way you just want to keep on going. Also the knowledge that it's not a long book helped.

Now that I've finished it, I can concentrate on studying again. This was the kind of book that absorbs your whole mind. Well, most of it. ;-)

Finished reading Shogun

The ending came earlier than I expected. I thought a lot would happen before that. A lot did happen, but not in the book anymore. There was just a small epilogue on what happened after the book ended. But all in all it left me with a good feeling, it's an awesome book.

Next is Prooi (Prey) of Michael Crichton! This will be a lot easier to read and for a change I'll try to race through it, not reading details, but scanning the pages for essential information. I've never read a book this way, just tried it on a few pages. I could finish the 380 pages in... a couple of days, if it's interesting enough.

Edit: change in plans, I started in my new French (kids)book! So far it's easier than expected.

Experiment - Robin Cook

The French book shouldn't be too hard, since it's a kid's book. The German book might be difficult, as I only took 2 years of German class. I always wanted to read Dune, people say it's good. And a while back I read my first Robin Cook and I really liked it, so this will be my second, although at the moment my brother borrows it from me. =)

As if I have nothing serious to do...... >.<
